| A word about Hurghada |
Hurghada is the largest and most developed
town on the Red Sea Coast, Egypt’s most popular
resort town, and the perfect location for divers, watersports
fans – with every imaginable sea activity available
– and those who simply want to relax in the sunshine.
It’s a great place to unwind after a Nile cruise
or a visit to Cairo. Hurghada extends for 25km along
the coast, and many hotels have fine coral gardens actually
on their site. Ad-Dahar, the main centre, is at the
northern end where you’ll find an array of shops,
banks and the market. There is also an aquarium, the
Red Sea Aquarium, and the Marine Museum.There are plenty
of nightclubs and bars to choose from, too, for those
seeking after-dark entertainment. |

| Diving In Hurghada |
|
From minuscule nudibranchs to giant whale sharks,
this area has it all: hard and soft coral, turtles
and dolphins, hammerheads and barracudas, mantas and
moray eels, napoleons and tuna, and much more, including
the wreck graveyard at Sha'ab Abu Nuhas. Day boat
trips take you to Elphinstone, Sha'ab Sharm, Ghadir,
Wadi El Gamal, and Ras Honkorab. The reef has characteristic
shelves located both north and south and is best dived
by following the edge of the plateaux. The southern
plateau offers the best dive with colourful soft and
hard coral (25m), and an abundance of fish life such
as barracuda, grouper, snapper and giant moray eels.
Grey reef and hammerhead sharks are common in the
area, with huge napoleon wrasses and groupers.Most
